All new members, whether experienced or those with a degree of competence, will need to attend an introduction/assessment that includes a supervised capsize drill. On completion, members gain access to our fleet of club boats, our gym and other club facilities, and access to our training and coaching programmes.
Membership registration is completed via Paddle UK using the button above, by filling in your details to create an account. Once you click ‘sign up’ you add BCCC to your basket to in order to pay to join [Paddle UK members click ‘login’].
Membership Options
Below is a outline of the different types of membership that we currently offer. You will also find a detailed breakdown of each membership type to help you decide which option to go for.
Options for Paddle UK Members
Adult
Over 18s – Paddle UK “On the Water” Members
- Requires Paddle UK “On the Water” membership.
- Can borrow club boats at any time.
- Unlimited access to the clubs facilities and equipment.
- Can store own boat(s) for an additional fee.
- Can attend trips and expeditions.
- Can vote at the AGM.
Junior
Under 18s – Paddle UK “On the Water” Members
- Requires Paddle UK “On the Water” membership.
- Children must be in year 3 or above to take part in activities accompanied by an adult.
- Parents are expected to take full responsibility for their child’s participation.
- Children younger than school year 3 can only take part in activities as part of their family group.
- Can borrow boats at any time.
- Can store own boat(s) for an additional fee.
- Can attend trips and expeditions, if accompanied by the parent / guardian who are responsible for their welfare at all times.
- Parent/guardian can vote at the AGM.
Family*
2 or more family members – Paddle UK “On the Water” Members
- Requires Paddle UK “On the Water” membership.
- All family members should be “immediate family” only.
- Parents are expected to take responsibility for their children’s participation.
- Can borrow club boats at any time.
- Can store own boat(s) for an additional fee.
- Can attend trips and expeditions.
- All under 18s must be accompanied by the parent / guardian who are responsible for their welfare at all times during any onsite or offsite activities.
- Up to 2 adults from the immediate family can vote at the AGM.
Options For Non-Paddle UK Members
Adult*
Over 18s – Non Paddle UK Members
- Can only use club boats during official club sessions.
- Cannot attend trips or expeditions.
- Can vote at the AGM.
Junior*
Under 18s – Non Paddle UK Members
- Can only use club boats during official club sessions.
- Cannot attend trips or expeditions.

Associate
Non-paddlers
- Former members of the club who still wish to continue to support the club and its activities.
- Must be over 18.
- Cannot borrow boats.
- Can vote at the AGM.
* An additional fee is levied against members who do not have Paddle UK membership – this reflects the levy that we pay to Paddle UK to insure members whilst on club activities. You can join Paddle UK here.
Affiliated
Other clubs or groups
- For youth groups and other voluntary organisations who wish to introduce their members to the sport of canoeing and kayaking.
- Members of affiliated groups who wish to take part in BCCC activities, should take out the appropriate Adult, Junior or Family membership listed above.
- There are limitations regarding access to and use of equipment.
- The adult contact in the group or organisation can vote at the AGM.
All subscriptions and fees are reviewed annually in November.
