The BCCC has a variety of friendly instructors and coaches to hand, all qualified to teach at different levels. We offer courses for beginners when the weather is good from the spring/summer, to ensure an enjoyable experience on the water.

Taster Sessions: no kayaking/canoeing experience

Your paddling journey will start with a taster session based on the Paddle UK Start Award. You will learn the basic knowledge needed to get you in and out of your boat safely, and help you start to navigate through the water. Once completed, you will move on to the Discover course.

2024 Taster sessions: Saturday 13 April and 18 May (10:00 – 11:00)

(more dates coming soon)

Discover Courses: minimal kayaking/canoeing experience

For those who would like to develop your paddling skills, or if you’re coming back to paddling after many years. We offer Paddle UK Discover Award courses. This course helps refine your basic skills to become more confident on the water. Once completed, you will move on to the Paddle UK Explore Award.

Pool Training

Throughout the summer months, we have occasional pool sessions to help improve your confidence when practicing capsize drills and rescues. These take place at the Aldershot Lido and are open to paddlers of all abilities. Club members should look out for announcements via Spond and B3C Matters for dates.
